YEAH, Dick

Yeah, everyone’s excited by the news from the other day that DICK CHENEY of all people has said he’s voting for Kamala Harris in November. Everyone except me, apparently. I mean, sure, it’s interesting that someone as fundamentally awful as Cheney considers Trump to be too bad even for him; if you need an indicator of just how unspeakable Dampnut is, this certainly is one. But some of us remember that 2016 was a thing, and if you do a quick Google search for “Dick Cheney Trump 2016” like I did, you may find this:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney blasted Donald Trump as sounding like a “liberal Democrat” on Monday evening, as the Republican presidential candidate continued to defend and expand upon his attacks of George W. Bush’s administration and its failure to prevent the 9/11 attacks.
Appearing on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Cheney listened to the anchor read a list of the candidate’s recent comments about Bush and 9/11 earlier in the day and during Saturday night’s debate, including Trump’s assertion that Bush and Cheney “lied” about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq as an impetus to invade the country in 2003.
“He sounds like a liberal Democrat to me, Bret. He’s wrong, and he’s I think, deliberately promoting those views in order to advance his political interests,” Cheney responded. “The question of WMD charge that the administration lied, that was thoroughly investigated by the Robb-Silberman Commission. They found absolutely no evidence whatsoever to support that.” (That commission, however, was not charged with investigating “the use of intelligence by policymakers,” according to co-chair Laurence Silberman.) […]
Cheney called Trump’s statement and conduct “a disappointment,” adding that while he has not endorsed anyone, “it’s misleading for him to campaign on that basis.”
“I’ve said I’ll support the nominee of my party,” Cheney said. “If he operates the way he’s operating, sounding like a liberal Democrat, I don’t think he’ll get the nomination.”

History tells us Cheney was horribly, horribly wrong on that point, but he was as good as his word about supporting his party’s nominee, even when it turned out to be Dampnut. (This was, incidentally, more than even Dubya was willing to do.) It may have been grudging support, it may have been half-arsed and unenthusiastic, but it was support nonetheless, and it was support given at a time when it was KNOWN that Trump was as unfit to be president as Cheney was. And Cheney must have known this himself. And he still supported him. So fuck him and forgive if I find this backflip less than convincing.

In similar vein to last week, as you may notice. I’m kind of enjoying putting these two-hour things together, and I’ve already got the next couple prepared.

In actually shocking news…

Trump acknowledges losing the 2020 election ‘by a whisker’ …Hang on, WHAT?

Former President Donald Trump publicly acknowledged that he did not win the 2020 presidential election, telling podcaster Lex Fridman that he “lost by a whisker.”
Fridman asked the Republican nominee about his expectations for his debate next week against Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, in a podcast episode released Tuesday.
Trump initially answered, “I’ve done a lot of debating … I’ve done well with debates,” before embarking on a tangent about the number of votes he received in 2020, saying: “I became president. Then the second time I got millions more votes than I got the first time.”
“I was told if I got 63 million, which is what I got the first time, ‘You would win. You can’t not win.’ And I got millions more votes than that and lost by a whisker,” Trump added.
Trump received about 74 million votes nationally in 2020, compared to 81 million for Joe Biden.
His admission is a departure from his usual rhetoric about the 2020 presidential election results, which he often claims were “rigged.”

I mean, that’s not really a “whisker” as such, but that’s not the important thing, which is that Trump just acknowledged having lost the 2020 election after years of claiming it was stolen and legal issues surrounding the matter. He apparently went back to the fraud story later in the interview, but too late, the damage was done, and OH that’s going to have some ramifications for his ongoing court strife. And Nick Fuentes is PISSED:

Fuentes noted that if Trump knows that he lost the 2020 election, then he “deserves to be charged” by special counsel Jack Smith for his efforts to overturn the results of the election.
“That actually vindicates the DOJ charge against him!” Fuentes declared. “Because the charge is that he knew he lost but he lied to defraud the people.”
“So, why did we do Stop the Steal?” Fuentes demanded to know. “Why did anyone go to Jan. 6? Why is anyone sitting in jail? Why did anything bad happen to anybody? Why did everyone get censored? Why is everything bad that has happened to the people that were involved, why did that need to happen if you’re just going to walk it all back and say, ‘Oh, I lost’?”
“Well, it would have been good to know that before 1,600 people got charged,” he continued. “It would have been good to know that before I had all my money frozen, [was] put on the No Fly List, [got] banned from everything, lost all banking and payment processing. It would have been good to know that before I, in 2017, dedicated my life to this as an 18 year-old in college. It just feels like a big ripoff.”
“It just goes to show what a tremendous betrayal it is,” Fuentes said. “It’s just such a callous indifference to the sacrifices that his supporters made on his behalf.”

Poor Nick. Daddy let you down so much. I’d feel sorry for you if you weren’t you.

And the worst of it is, I don’t think Trump actually meant to make that admission. It just slipped out of him cos he can barely put a coherent thought together any more. It’s not even like Lex Fridman was trying to coax that out of him or trip him up, Dampnut tripped himself up without any help… and, more to the point, I suspect that he never even noticed. Not only did he not mean to say it, he wasn’t even aware that he did say it… I don’t think going back to calling it a fraud later in the interview was an attempt to walk the statement back cos he didn’t even know he’d said it. I’ll admit it, I never used to like the line of attack suggesting Trump has mental issues, cos if someone is a titanic piece of shit I feel like ascribing a medical reason potentially gives them a way to diminish their responsibility for that. And I’m always a bit wary of diagnosis from a distance with this sort of thing… but in Trump’s case it’s getting harder and harder to ignore.

I’m just as shocked as you are

Yeah, in news that will shock about three people at most, Russia’s been fiddling with American media… the US company referred to in the above graphic is something called Tenet Media, which I was not previously familiar with; it was co-founded by this ghastly individual, and it stands accused of taking ten million dollars from RT and funnelling it to a variety of other ghastly individuals on their dubious talent roster. The accusation levelled against them don’t actually name specific names, but that hasn’t stopped people from working out who Tenet has been paying on Putin’s behalf… including such figures as Grim Fool and Dave Rubin. I don’t recognise all the names, but those two stood out to me. Tim I’ve spoken about before, and, well, this news certainly casts recent hysterics he had about Ukraine in a different light; Rave Dubin is primary notable for the loudness with which he “left the Left” and the shamelessness of his grifting despite the blatant contempt with which most of his fellow right-wing goons view him.

Rubin was quick to note on Twitter that the indictment presents him and the other unnamed “commentators” as victims of RT/Tenet’s perniciousness, and that’s how they’re presenting themselves. Technically I suppose that’s correct, insofar as they didn’t know who they were actually being paid by… but weird, isn’t it, how little curiosity they all appear to have had about exactly why they were being paid some ridiculous amounts (Rubin made $400,000 per month for his efforts, apparently, and Beanieman was getting $100,000 per individual video) to be all ra ra (Ras)putin; I’ve seen an article claiming actually was curious about where this money was coming from, but he was easily fobbed off by a bullshit profile of a non-existent person the RT people cobbled together to conceal themselves. I suppose when you’re a victim of being paid nearly half a million dollars, you don’t pay too much attention to who’s victimising you.

Anyway, Lauren Chen also used to work for Glenn Beck‘s network The Blaze, which shows just how shitty she’s willing to get. I say used to because The Blaze rather hastily dumped her once this Russian business was announced… apparently even a professional liar and all-round scumbag like Beck has limits regarding who he’ll associate with. Still, I’m sure she’ll be fine, her Russian friends will probably look after her, and in the meantime I suspect we’ll eventually find this was just the tip of an iceberg containing a lot more pieces of right-wing shit shilling for mother Russia, whether knowingly or not. As long as they’re being victimised with lots of money, eh…

“Darryl has said the actual truth”

Another day, another fuckwit I’ve never heard of until now. Meet Darryl Cooper

Liberals and conservatives alike have turned on Tucker Carlson after controversial podcaster and self-proclaimed historian Darryl Cooper claimed on Carlson’s show that “millions of people ended up dead” in Nazi concentration camps.
Cooper also painted U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill as the “chief villain” of World War II.
Carlson said on X that Cooper “may be the best and most honest popular historian in the United States” when posting The Tucker Carlson Show Monday episode, which featured topics like Christianity and authoritarians like Viktor Orbán and Vladimir Putin.
The episode went on to feature a series of easily debunked claims by Cooper, who previously achieved virality on the MAGA fringes with a lengthy Twitter thread in July 2021 which claimed to explain that the Jan. 6 insurrection happened because Democrats had lied about Trump.
Of Churchill, Cooper told Carlson, “Now, he didn’t kill the most people, he didn’t commit the most atrocities, but I believe… that when you get into it and tell the story right and don’t leave anything out, you see that he was primarily responsible for that war becoming what it did,” Cooper told Carlson.

I somehow missed that earlier thread, but it sounds like it was of a piece with this bullshit. Admittedly it was nice of him to acknowledge that Churchill being the bad guy didn’t make Hitler the good guy, but… look, my mum fucking DESPISED Churchill—she came from a Scottish mining community and never forgave Winnie’s actions against miners in his earlier years—and even she would never have called him the “chief villain” of WW2. That requires a misunderstanding of history that in turn requires malice rather than mere stupidity and ignorance. Also, Darryl posted this recently…

Yeah, Darryl apparently would rather see Paris with Nazis than with drag performers. He’s evidently deleted this one, whereupon, the Independent article notes,

…Cooper appeared to address the backlash. “I like posting provocative s***, seeing how close I can step up to various lines with going over them,” he said in a post on X. “But there are a few people who, even though they often disagree w/me, try to give me the benefit of the doubt, and when they tell me I’ve crossed over, I check myself. Simple.”

I presume that “check myself” in this case means “think of something else that’s just as if not more ludicrous”. This is all before we even consider his take on the Holocaust, which he seem to acknowledge actually did happen, in that millions of Jews had indeed died by the end of the war… so I suppose that’s something in his favour, but he seems to think those millions of deaths just kind of happened, as if Operation Reinhard hadn’t been a thing. Like the Nazis just accidentally built Chelmno and Treblinka and Sobibor and Belzec purely to exterminate Jews. Like they installed gas chambers at Majdanek and Auschwitz by mistake. Like they didn’t mean to murder a million Soviet Jews in Operation Barbarossa, but all those Jews just died anyway. One of those things that just happens, they shouldn’t have been there if they didn’t want to die, OBVIOUSLY. Lebensraum? Never heard of her!

Gods, FUCK Darryl Cooper, FUCK Fucker Carlson for promoting him, and FUCK OOLONG FOR THIS:

Now the stupid cunt has apparently deleted this endorsement for reasons unknown, which I suppose indicates he actually can be made to recognise he’s done something that makes him look bad… but yeah, in the same week he also posted this:

…and that’s still up, and he’s clearly OK with looking like he’s opposed to democracy and cool with oligarchy, presumably as long as he’s one of the high status males in charge. So much blabbering about freedom of speech, so little interest in freedom of voting by the look of it. No wonder he’s amplifying Hitler enthusiasts. Wonder what Fox News would be doing now if Tucker were still there and promoted this Cooper shithead on his show with them instead of his own network…

Brazil banned what now?

Yeah, Oolong is so pissed at Twitter being banned in Brazil that he was happy to retweet a meme about it that actually calls it Twitter rather than X. The rebrand is clearly going badly, as someone else observed. Personally I’m not actually sure how I feel about the whole Brazil affair, particularly the bit about fining people thousands of dollars any time they try to use a VPN to access it, but then again this is Musk we’re dealing with, so it’s not like I can feel any sympathy for him or anything…

The Sisters of Merde

So someone on Threads posted this picture with the question “What’s the name of this band?”…

The name of the band is, in fact, Timcast, because Tim Pool is so unimaginative that he named it after his own Youtube channel, and what I’ve heard of their music sounds exactly like it would in fact be made by a band with someone as awful as him fronting it. Anyway, the list of alternative names offered by commenters was SO good I have to record the best ones here for posterity (the post title is my own contribution): System of a Clown; Puddle of Chudd; Bon Ivermectin; N’cel; Lords of Flaccid; Magadeth; Rage in Cooperation With the Machine; Hats Without Men; Bald Religion; The White Gripes; Fool & the Gang; The Rohypnolics; MA/GA; Incel to Injury; Incellica; Five Finger Dick Punch; Hootie and the Birchers; Imagine Sagging; Public Enema; Avenged Seven-year-old; Velvet Undercarriage; The Mighty Mighty Pickmes; Beige Against the Machine; Dunning and the Krugers; Less Than 1cc; Inceline Dion; Pissmouth; Men Without Hair; Type O Bigotry; Oedipus and the Mama’s Boys; Incel Clown Posse; Klan Halen; Blandie; Nine Inch Fails; Panic! at the Recording Studio; Fascing Bumpkins; Rage Against the Vaccines; Jefferson Hairline; Alt-Right Bridge; The Virgin Diarrheas; Los Lobotomy; Vaginal Dust Storm; The Cover Your Drinks Experience. I mean, DAMN. There’s some inspiration in there. I’m particularly fond of Rage Against the Vaccines, cos one of Tim’s guest members has been former Offspring drummer Pete Parada, who was ejected from that band in 2021 after refusing a Covid vaccine before going on tour. I have no idea what Pete’s like as a drummer (I suspect pretty good, cos he was in that band for 14 years), but I am sure his position on vaccines was what actually got him the job with Grim Fool…
