No refunds for 15,000 Australian ticket holders after Candace Owens’ tour cancelled

Honestly, I really am sick of all these fucking people, but I still want to be able to laugh at their misfortunes; I’ve been greatly enjoying the recent collapse of Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire empire, and now I’m equally pleased to see his erstwhile employee and Hitler apologist get caught short…

None of the 15,000 ticket holders for conservative influencer Candace Owens’ cancelled Australian tour are expected to get their money back from the promoter, after it spent all its money then collapsed.
Owens herself says she is hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket and claims she was misled by the promoter, Rocksman, a company with links to the influential conservative lobby group Turning Point Australia.
Rocksman collapsed with just 21 Australian cents in its bank account and will never refund Owens, her Australian ticket holders or other creditors, according to its liquidator’s statutory report to creditors, filed with Asic and dated 3 March.

Oh FUCK, TURNING POINT (indirectly) fucked with Candace again! That just makes the whole thing even better!

Owens claims to be among those owed money: her spokesperson said Rocksman had promised to cover the costs of challenging her visa refusal at the high court.
“Candace’s team ended up paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal bills, as well as providing numerous loans to Rocksman to make refunds [before] it became apparent that their assurances were meaningless,” the spokesperson said.
Owens’ spokesperson said she only learned of the company’s liquidation through the Guardian’s reporting in January.
“Right up until the last day, they were still promising us that refunds were just around the corner,” Owens’ spokesperson alleged.

This is one of the clowns at fault, being Damien Costas (who is six years my junior but somehow already looked older than me five years ago), characterised in the article I got this from as the “Sydney porn king”; he was the local publisher of Penthouse, but back in his native South Australia he’d been a Liberal staffer, and somehow I am not as surprised to find Penthouse was published here by a South Australian Liberal employee as I wish I was. This debacle with Rocksman is not his first bankruptcy rodeo, as he’s got two major fuck-ups to his credit already, and by the look of it the main lesson him and his partner Joel Jammal (the guy who founded the local Turning Point chapter) have learned from this one was to spend all the money before they were forced to return (as they had to when their tour of Don Jr. fell apart). I think that may prove to have been silly of them. No sympathy for anyone involved, and that includes all the chuds who bought the tickets. As for Candace herself, eh, she’ll be fine; she just needs to make a couple of videos accusing Erika Kirk of something, and the Youtube revenue will soon make up the shortfall…

Obviously I haven’t felt much like writing stuff in the last few days, which is not to say that at least some kind of fun stuff has happened amidst the horrors… and right-wing media’s meltdown over the legacy of Charlie Kirk has been one of them:

Now, this is in some respects just a continuation of the existing feud between Klandace and Benji Bear, but even so it’s kind of amazing just how far the former is willing to push it. The general right-wing freakout about the Charlie Kirk aftermath and what’s happening at Turning Point USA is too silly to talk about—it will fill books in years to come, but I can’t be arsed right now—but seeing all these dreadful people losing the plot is rather lovely. Ben has been losing it as much as any of them, of course, though certainly not as much as her… I mean, Candace is the person who said Hitler would’ve been perfectly fine if he’d just limited his ambitions to Germany, but I feel this is her going far beyond her personal issues with Boon Shabibula and her beef with the state of Israel, both legitimate targets, into hatred of Jews in general, not legitimate targets. She’s an even better useful idiot for the far right than Ben is, really, and her “black people’s problem is not white people” bullshit in this video is going to age VERY badly if the racists she’s pandering to ever get that ethnostate they want, even worse than his will…

That is probably the worst pun I’ve ever produced, but fortunately the occasion for it is better:

Ben Shapiro’s conservative media empire has cut ties with Candace Owens, amid a lengthy public feud between the far-right pundit and her bosses over the Israel-Hamas war.
“Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship,” Shapiro’s co-founder Jeremy Boreing tweeted on Friday morning. “The rumors are true—I am finally free,” Owens posted to her own X account. Representatives for The Daily Wire and Owens did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment. […]
Shapiro had often come to the defense of Owens’ rhetoric, but following the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, the pair began a very public battle that at one point featured the Daily Wire co-founder daring his star podcaster to quit.
The feud began last November when Owens tweeted that “no government anywhere has a right to commit a genocide.” While she did not specifically mention the State of Israel, her remarks were widely condemned by her fellow conservative media figures. Soon after, Shapiro publicly called Owens’ behavior “disgraceful” and chided her “faux-sophistication” on the Israel-Hamas conflict. […]
But the Daily Wire in-fighting appeared to reach its final stage this week when Owens liked a social-media post asking conservative rabbi Shmuley Boteach whether he is “drunk on Christian blood again”—an overt reference to the antisemitic “blood libel” canard that has regained popularity on the far-right via QAnon. (Days earlier, Owens dabbled in other antisemitic tropes by suggesting there’s a Jewish “gang” in Hollywood.)

So it appears she’s been engaging in some proper antisemitism other than just not being pro-Israel. Well, as I’ve said before, Shapiro insisted on hiring her and keeping her in full knowledge of what she said about Hitler being OK; I’m wondering who finally made the call, though, cos Jeremy Dullard made the announcement and Shapiro doesn’t appear to have said anything about it. Shame it ended like this, eh? They were cunts of a feather who thoroughly deserved each other…

In-fight on the right!

It’s been rather pleasing over the last day or so to watch a couple of major figures on the right do what the left has always been good at, i.e. trying to tear strips off each other. Ben Shapiro has apparently been very unhappy with some of Candace Owens’ comments on the current Israel debacle:

…like that one. Incendiary stuff! And no, her boss did not like it, and this is where the discourse went:

I mean, Ben Shapiro has been unhinged for a while, Israel’s war against Palestine has just made him a bit more so than usual… but apart from that Candace has no place calling anyone unhinged; it was her, after all, who said Hitler would’ve been fine if he’d just limited his efforts to Germany. And that’s a concept that requires a special sort of fuckwit to express it seriously.

And Ben Shapiro knew that she was that special sort of fuckwit when he hired her. Which he did in 2021, two years after she said that thing about Hitler. Two years after it was known that she said it. Two years after a recording of her saying it was played at a Congressional hearing. In short, Ben Shapiro had to know that Candace had said this idiotic thing when he hired her. He must know now, cos if he didn’t at that time I’m sure he was duly informed. And he clearly hasn’t cared about that enough to, you know, get rid of her or NOT FUCKING HIRING HER TO BEGIN WITH.

Now that she’s dared to defy the official line about Israel being above reproach, though, suddenly Ben’s not happy with her (curious, though, that he’s telling her to quit rather than fire her). He was clearly OK with her being, you know, OK with Hitler if only he hadn’t presumed to conquer the rest of Europe. He’s not OK with her criticising the activities of the nation state of Israel. Apparently that bothers him more than the heinous treatment of Jews in the Third Reich. Almost like the state of Israel matters more to him than Jewish people…?

Maybe. I don’t know. But we do know he’ll only stand up for Jewish people up to a certain point:

Points to Ben for criticising Kanye’s antisemitism, but he was willing to look past it even so; Kanye being a pro-life conservative mattered more than him being a racist piece of shit who probably doesn’t think Ben is a real Jew. And when the orange cunt said this about American Jews, he agreed it was not only not even antisemitic but perfectly true.

And Ben being “Israel rather than the Jews” kind of would be in keeping with the American Christian right, which is all for Israel cos their book tells them the world has to end there, so Israel has to survive. The Jews don’t, of course, they have to convert, but Israel has to be looked after so Armageddon comes like the book insists it must. I can envisage Ben Shapiro being OK with that, maybe not so much the conversion thing, but again he’ll find a way to ignore that so he can keep in with the cool kids…

Until the crunch comes and both him and Candace realise they were never more than useful idiots for these scumbags and the Christian right they love so much hates them both and will cast them aside the minute they no longer need them. That day will hurt. And it should, because both of them will have thoroughly deserved it.
