To be sure, that photo of Jimmy C is perhaps a bit unfair (I gather it’s from this film, which, funnily enough, came out the same year as Jesus Christ Splatterstar), cos, well, it looks so “white”, but yeah, the point should be taken. And indeed I don’t recall any fuss about suspiciously Anglo Jesus in that film, probably cos even in 2004 we didn’t care as much about that and also cos that was the least of that film’s issues, but also there’s a crucial difference between the Odyssey and the Passion: Jesus was real, and had clear Irish/Swiss ancestry, so Jimbo was perfect casting…
