Why indeed?

This was posted on Facebook:

Now, this is not an instance of Chuckles here saying something stupid and someone else reposting it with an uncharitable re-interpretation in classic Twitter fashion. This is the actual stupid thing he said in the video the tweet was reposting. I know, I watched it myself (at least from the 3m25s point highlighted in the screen grab; he says it a few seconds after that). This is not the Human Events account trying to make Kirk look stupid, that’s the organisation HE PRODUCES CONTENT FOR.

Cos, as I found after a quick search, Human Events actually dates back to 1944, when it began life as a tiny conservative news sheet, and over the decades it moved further right (by the 80s it was all for apartheid and being a bad influence on Ronald Reagan), to the point that professional liar and professional white person Jack Posobiec is now its senior editor. And Charlie Kirk is one of its featured writers on their website, which I suppose is Posobiec paying his fellow professional liar and professional white person back for Kirk hiring him for Turning Point USA.

So what I originally thought was a Twitter account I hadn’t previously encoutered making fun of Chuck E. Cheese for saying something stupid, it was his employer thinking he was making a good point. And I can see the point he and they thought he was making, i.e. Trump must’ve actually been effective if the Dems are trying to stop him happening again, but… that’s not why. It’s because Trump’s presidency was a catastrophe the world hasn’t fully recovered from yet and a repeat performance would almost certainly be even worse. I mean, for all their faults, at least the Democrats still believe in democracy and letting people vote; the Republicans can no longer be trusted to do the same…

Murdoch changes everything

Oof. You may, however, be surprised that Lord Webber didn’t actually say that. I did a quick bit of research when I saw this posted on Facebook, cos I wanted some actual context… and the actual context was a minor part of a discussion near the end of a podcast called I Never Thought It Would Happen, fronted by Chris Difford from the band Squeeze and produced by a charity called Help Musicians (have a look at the list of guests so far) devoted to helping professional musicians. We’ll overlook the fact that ALW hardly needs any such help, he’s actually not a bad interviewee here.

But the bit about him struggling to write another musical was just a small part of the conversation near the end of a 40-odd minute chat, and it also wasn’t really related to “political correctness”, indeed I don’t think I even heard him use those words. He did piss and moan a bit about people telling him he couldn’t write certain things any more like Evita cos him and Tim Rice aren’t Argentinian, which… you know, conservative lord with a life peerage, what else would they say, but no, that’s still not really ALW’s problem… which is just that there’s a bit of a creative blockage and he hasn’t been able to find a story he wants to make a musical from. Said he could write any amount of music but doesn’t know what to write about.

This is somewhat different from “wah, PC is killing my career” and I can’t imagine why TalkTV would be spinning the conversation this way. *does quick check* Oh, that’s why. They’re Rupert Murdoch’s “news” TV station in the UK after he had to sell Sky. Looking at the list of talent I see Jeremy Kyle, Piers Morgan, a former political editor at The Scum and at least four right-wing politicians, two of them being the current leader and deputy leader of Reform UK, which was the party Nigel Farage founded after UKIP outlived its usefulness for him. Yeah, I really can’t imagine why such an evident shower of cunts might want to blow ALW’s actual words quite so far out of proportion into yet another culture war talking point…

Water is wet again

According to Crikey:

I mean… obviously? The UK version of the Spectator has been publishing that crypto-Nazi Taki Theodoracopulos since the 1970s. Why wouldn’t the Australian branch of the rag do the same with the local equivalents? (NB: I kind of agree with those people who reckon terms like “fascist” and “Nazi” are thrown about too lightly these days, so I don’t use the term “crypto-Nazi” lightly myself. I just don’t know how else to describe a professional racist and antisemite who once wrote a piece about D-Day sympathising with the Wehrmacht.)

Good luck with that

KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands forced into sensitivity training after offensive comments about Paralympians

Oh THAT’ll work.

Radio station KIIS FM has had to employ a second censor and provide sensitivity training to Kyle Sandilands after the shock jock described watching the Tokyo Paralympics as “horrific”. […]
The latest breach follows an incident in October when Sandilands, who reportedly earns $5m a year, and ARN apologised for using a slur against people with disability.
“Have you been watching the special Olympics (sic), it is horrific some of the things,” Sandilands said live on air.
“Some poor bloke ran for the high jump and then veered right ’cause he was blind and landed on his arse on the ground.”
The report found that while the presenters expressed some admiration for the “spirit of the contest”, it would have been clear to the audience that “the Paralympians in question were being mocked by Mr Sandilands, and that they were mocked for the techniques used to participate and compete in their particular sport”.Sandilands implied that participants in the Paralympics were “a generic group of people that were somehow intrinsically inferior and were in need of special treatment or ‘lifting up’”, the report found. […]
Sandilands has been a divisive figure in Australian media for decades. Thirteen years ago he was dropped by Australian Idol (then on Channel Ten) after a public backlash over a lie-detector stunt on his radio show in which a 14-year-old girl revealed she had been raped. Both Sandilands and his co-host apologised on air at the time, saying they did not know the girl had been raped.
Although Sandilands apologised in October for “using filthy language and some derogatory archaic terms”, he said: “I’m never going to change. I’m still not changing [for] the woke world.”

I don’t know how Vile’s whole career didn’t end after that debacle with the 14 year old girl. All that’ll come out of this “sensitivity training” is a bunch of shitty jokes for content on his show before he goes on being a cunt as usual.

They did what?

Well THAT video title got a bit hairy, didn’t it? This has been up on TYT’s channel for about four hours as of this posting, long enough for me to have grabbed my own screenshot of it. For some reason they still haven’t corrected it.

EDIT: as of a bit after midnight, early hours of Feb. 9, more than a day since the video was posted, they STILL haven’t corrected the title typo, which is hilarious. I can only assume they’re deliberately leaving it like that for some reason.

FURTHER EDIT: it’s 5pm on Saturday the 11th, and, well…
